FMCG Logistics Mode
FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) refers to consumer goods with a short life cycle and fast consumption.
Before the popularization of e-commerce, most of the FMCGs are sold face-to-face, including shopping malls, convenience stores, markets and so on. After the popularization, online trading and offline delivery have been widely accepted.
Based on the characteristics of the FMCGs, its logistics service need to meet the below requirements:
1. High efficiency of supply chain
Due to the short life cycle of the FMCGs, the supply chain shall achieve high efficiency to make a fast response, so as to save time in the part of the supply chain.
The so-called fast response of the supply chain shall include the following parts:
The 1st part is for the orders, including obtainment, handling and instructions for orders.
The 2nd part is for the fast handling of delivery, including the picking, packaging and sealing of the products.
The 3rd part is for the fast response to transportation, including the fast implementation of routes, vehicle distribution, turnaround and takeover matters.
2. Flexible inventory management
The great demand for FMCGs determines that the warehouse shall process great storage capabilities and good at making use of the space.
Fast picking ability is necessary, for that FMCGs are featured by frequency, variety and small volume. Therefore, fast picking is helpful for getting goods quickly and save time.
3. Strict control of the life cycle
Due to the short life cycle of FMCGs, the life cycle of each product shall be strictly controlled to avoid any expiration.
